Having lived in both Chicago and all across North Carolina, as a wedding photographer I absolutely love and appreciate a blending of modern elements and Southern charm. For Leslie and David’s Chapel Hill wedding, they blended her North Carolina roots with some modern touches inspired by their current life in New York, and boy did they create an absolutely stunning day.

Okay so we all know Chapel Hill, right? And we all know Joanna Gaines, rustic queen of her Magnolia kingdom? K so Leslie and David got ready and got married at Rock Quarry which is like a mix of those two things. Are you picking up what I’m putting down? This venue is unbelievable. 

While the venue itself was beautiful, all of the details and personal touches made the day perfect. Leslie and David got married in the woods, and the ceremony was followed by a reception unlike any other I’ve seen. 

Leslie’s dad owns Kitchen in Chapel Hill, and provided some of the most to-die-for food I’ve seen at a wedding -- as a photographer or a guest! They had a full oyster bar (yes.) and a charcuterie board that was, I kid you not, 10-15 feet long (yes yes.). To top it all off, their cake was made by. the. mother. of. the. bride. In the iconic words of JVN, can you believe?

While everyone ate and drank to their heart’s content, the bride and groom’s parents gave absolutely amazing toasts under the soft glow of string lights -- swoon -- and then everyone danced the night away with cool masks, because why not?
