When doing wedding, engagement, or lifestyle sessions I typically shoot outside or in a family’s home, but this shoot was such a fun break from that. One of my favorite things is to take a totally blank space and let a family bring it to life… Maybe even with a literal big ball of love.

I knew Lindsay in college and it was the best thing to get together for this session and see her with her family. These simple shoots with just a family, a bare studio, and a ball of love are some of my favorites.

Y’know why?

Basically all I have to do is take the photos. The families make it effortless! They all romp around for a little while, the kids burn off some energy and get to play with a giant gold ball, and we all get these sweet photos out of it!

I hardly have to make a peep -- they just get to be their fun, normal selves and before you know it I’ve got a bunch of photos and their kids probably conk out in the back seat on the way home. 

We all win.
